Extra Energy will install your brand new smart meter free of charge which, according to their website, will only take around 45 minutes to install and you can choose whether you want your smart meter to send your supplier information every half hour, every day or every month.

Customer Support

When it comes to customer support, Extra Energy does not fare as well as their independent competitors.

On Trustpilot, many of the negative reviews that they have are almost entirely down to their customer service, as some customers have not been able to fix specific billing issues or account issues down to not being able to get through to the team.

Contract Length and Fees

Extra Energy offers their customers a variety of tariff options, mostly differentiated by how much they will cost you per month and how long the prices are fixed for.

By fixing your prices for a long time, it means you will know exactly what you should be paying for your energy.

This does not mean you will have the same price for your monthly bill, just that your cost per kWh is fixed.

Extra Energy has an average rating on Trustpilot, with over 4,000 reviews in total. 43% of their reports are positive, 33% are negative, and the rest fall somewhere in the middle.

Some of their negative reviews are regarding a lack of communication between the company and hidden charges.
