The Paperless Office: Will it Ever Really Happen?

One of the biggest issues preventing the wide-spread adoption of a paperless office is old habits. People are simply accustomed to using paper for a variety of things. While new technologies are emerging daily, they take time to gain acceptance and mainstream popularity.

Original paperless office systems were technical, expensive and required extensive chances and planning within the office. Newer systems are streamlined, easy to use and simple to set up. While the paperless office might not be the main way of operating a business in the next month or year, it is closer to reality than ever before.

Cleantech Challenge Mexico 2012: Funds Green Startups in Mexico

San Francisco has it, so does Boston, London, Australia and South Africa, and now Mexico. Cleantech competitions have turned into a global trend over night, creating a forum where entrepreneurs can showcase their inventions, share ideas, learn from their peers and experts, and best of all, get financed. In its third edition, the Cleantech Challenge Mexico seeks to once again support Mexican cleantech and green entrepreneurs to kick-start their businesses.

Hawaii Becomes First State in U.S. to Ban Plastic Bags

Following the City Council’s 7-1 vote in favor, Honolulu Mayor Peter Carlisle signed SB2511, a bill banning plastic bags in retail stores yesterday across Honolulu County, which comprises the island of Oahu and Hawaii’s capitol city of Honolulu. What makes the bill’s passage extra significant is that Hawaii’s other counties had previously banned plastic bags, meaning that Hawaii has just officially enacted the first full statewide ban on plastic bags in the nation.

New research shows a significant number of Americans plan to cut their paper consumption in half in the next 5-10 years. That’s one of the findings of a new survey of 1,000 Americans conducted by TNS global on behalf of Nitro – the maker of PDF products. Nitro developed the survey to find out why offices have not gone paperless in the age of iPhones, tablets, and computers.
