Eileen Fisher's Business Grant Program Seeks Applications From Women Entrepreneurs

Last updated on by

The EILEEN FISHER Women’s Business Grant program seeks applicants from women-owned businesses that combine the key principles of social consciousness, sustainability, and innovation.

This year, EILEEN FISHER Inc. will award up to 5 grants of $12,500 each. On-line applications will be posted on March 1st, 2012 on the Eileen Fisher, Inc. web site. The deadline is May 15th 2012 at 11:59 EST. To apply for this grant, your business must be: innovative, 100% women owned and produce products that foster environmental and economic health in the community.

Company founder Eileen Fisher believes that now, more than ever, is the time to instill confidence in woman entrepreneurs. Eileen creates beautifully simple clothes designed to move with real life. Beyond all the gorgeous clothing she and her company are known for their socially conscious initiatives that impacts their supply chain, communities and the environment.

This is a terrifying time for businesses. I know how important it is to have someone believe in and validate your work,” says Fisher. “I want to encourage women entrepreneurs and firmly believe that business can be used to create social change, even if the economic climate is uncertain.”

And why invest in women? Eileen says,

Well, because women have helped me so much. Because I’ve struggled as a woman, because women support our company and we want to support women. We’re in a good position to sort of give back. It’s sort of a snowball effect. It’s more magic.

In addition to the key social principles of the grant, an essential for each applicant is a solid business plan and a strategy for long-term growth. The five grant recipients’ will receive: a $12,500 grant, mentoring from internal EILEEN FISHER teams and a trip to New York for a three-day workshop with EILEEN FISHER committee members and past grant recipients. Only for profit businesses or for profit/non-profit hybrids (social enterprises) are eligible for this grant. Nonprofit organizations may qualify for funding through other programs listed on their grant page.

The credit market is still tight for small businesses, even as the economy rebounds,” says Cheryl Campbell, EILEEN FISHER Business Grant Facilitator. “In this economy, we want to continue to inspire women to pursue new opportunities and creative solutions that will move their businesses forward in a sustainable way.”

The EILEEN FISHER Business Grant Program for Woman Entrepreneurs was launched in 2004 with a single grant to commemorate the company’s 20th anniversary. Since then, five grants have been awarded each year.
